Description

Because nothing says medieval weaponry like crochet!

My five year old son came to me recently and asked for a circle with teeth, took me a few hours after he asked for it finally to dawn on me what he was asking for and he sure is happy now!

EDIT2: I thought I'd elaborate on the story a little better. My son came to me and asked for teeth, naturally I was confused. I pointed to my teeth and said "teeth?" and he vehemently shook his head no and loudly replied TEETH. I have no idea what he wants but I like making him origami toys so I figure that's what he wants except I have no idea what teeth means. He spends the rest of the day asking me a few times an hour for teeth and I'm getting frustrated because I can't think of a way to help him tell me what he wants. Finally he comes back up to me and starts widely swinging his arm and says TEETH and I'm like omg sword! You want a sword!

So I make him an origami sword and hes very happy and promptly asks for a circle with teeth. In my head I'm like "oh boy, back to square one. Wtf is a circle with teeth?" I ask him to draw it and he draws a circle with lines coming out of it, like the way children draw the sun, so I ask him "You want the sun?" again, he shakes his head no and emphasizes he wants a circle with teeth. Two hours later while working it hits me, so I show him a picture and he goes apeshit happily screeching "YES, CIRCLE WITH TEETH!!." Everyday till I was done making it he asked me if it was done and every little bit of progress I made he'd jump up and down, congratulate me on my good work, and give me a hug. Hes the sweetest boy.

Oh wow! This is piece has taken crochet to a whole new level! It certainly isn't your grandmother's crochet by any means! The juxtaposition of the soft and comforting with the subject being an instrument used for war is a brilliant ironic statement that appeals to my snark side.

Your technique and mastery of crocheting is certainly demonstrated in all the different techniques you incorporated into the piece to get the details correct. I love the links and of course the spikes on the ball. This is a fantastic work of art and demonstrates your craft in so many ways. As I'm not really into crochet I can't get into too much detail beyond the WOW factor.

Great work!
