Pink Lotus by CreativeExcess Pink Lotus by CreativeExcess
My brother commissioned a pink lotus and gave me free reign over the design so I came up with this.

The petals are white with embroidered pink sewn onto a yellow core. Wire stem and base with a discarded cd for support. I think the flower turned out well but the lily pad is bland. Future versions will be more interesting.

Pattern Coming Soon!

Hi there,
I came to this pretty picture to see if you finished the pattern,
but now I can't find it anymore :'(
Is it possible to get it some way?
I would LOVE to have the pattern!

Hello!

Because I get more requests for my hat patterns and some armor patterns I'm working on this one has been sitting at the back of the line for awhile. I do plan to finish it eventually, if more people requested it I'd move it up in line.

The lotus is wonderful. It was clever to use a CD for the base :) Truthfully though, lotus leaves don't exactly float on the surface like lilypads.

That would depend entirely on the breed of lotus and the water level. I actually grow lotus' in my pond so I'm pretty familiar with them.

I bow to your experience :) It's just that the ones I've seen tend to have the big curly leaves.

I'm not sure when it will be finished because I take orders constantly and have to fit pattern design into that plus there's some things I want to change about it but I'll let you know when it's available.

Beautiful. I love how the petals are shaped just perfectly. The lily pad is good enough, but you could embroider veins to spice it up next time. It's a very lovely creation!

I thought a lot about it, about why the pad is so bland and I don't think it's the lack of colors, it's the lack of a sense of movement. Even though the flower is still you get the impression that its opening while the leaf is flat and motionless, the edges don't curl or anything. I intend to remedy this in later versions.

I'm glad you like it though, I'm considering making a pond iris next.

That's a really good point. I look forward to seeing a later version, and the iris as well!

This coming from the person who made a pacman blanket! It took about 30 to 40 minutes to embroider each flower petal, embroidering them that way was important to getting them to retain their shape. Once I got the petals sewn on it was relatively easy to get the wire armature worked out.
